The Wine

Third vintage exclusive from a big Barossa name, following its Gold-winning two first vintages. No surprise for us – this is delicious

Of the 2023 vintage John Lehmann wrote in the Australian: "Ah Cab Sav, we know you well – there’s classic aromas from cassis and blackberry to turned earth, tobacco leaf and clove. The blackcurrant, blackberry and cedar on the tongue are well balanced with savoury notes but the juicy acidity make it happily approachable."

This is made by Trent Burge using fruit both the Barossa Valley floor and from high altitude ones, close to the family's Eden Valley grand 1845 Corryton Park Homestead. The winery is named after this homestead and of course, the family name of siblings Trent and Amelia Burge. Their father is Barossa legend Grant Burge, who is working with Trent and Amelia to create another chapter of winemaking glory for the Burge family.

Awarding a Double Gold to the debut 2022 vintage, the Gilbert & Gaillard judges noted its “Rich red colour with ruby reflections. Ripe black fruit on the nose, with hints of undergrowth and earth. The palate is deliciously fleshy, with invigorating, sweet tannins complementing the fruit admirably.”
