It's six Golds including Double for this high-scoring star Shiraz from Zonte's Footstep – a longtime favourite that never fails to delight and satisfy customers, show judges and wine writers.
A 2022 vintage and , as John Lehmann writes in The Australian: "A little bit of ageing goes a long way, from the dark garnet colour in the glass to the nose of plum and blackberry buttressed by a hint of Christmas cake and leather, some dried herbs and vanilla. Then sip on plum and blackberry, liquorice and savoury pan juices but also fresh acidity and a hint of saline on the finish."It comes from always great value Langhorne Creek, and lakeside vineyards, where vines are cooled and fruit kept fresh by the 'Lake Doctor' breeze off Lake Alexandrina.
"So many fabulous reds from Langhorne Creek sneak under the radar and this is yet another, although previous vintages have been so impressive that there should be queues for every release... a wine of concentration and rich flavours with plums, chocolate, black fruits, smoked meats, leather and licorice… sleek tannins… Cracking value." (Ken Gargett, WinePilot).
"The palate is plush and generous, offering meat-like undertones, a whisper of white pepper and a savory herbal lift, all wrapped in velvety, fine-grained tannins. A long, silky finish carries notes of menthol, leather and subtle oak. 93pts" (Nataliemaclean.com).
